According to the statistics of Vietnam Textile Association (VITAS), in 2017, despite the negative impact of the market, textile and garment export activities still achieved positive results, reaching the expected target of $31 billion. The total export volume of textile and apparel products in the first quarter of 2018 is estimated to be 7.62 billion US dollars, up 13.35% from the same period last year, equivalent to 22.4% of this year's target. Vietnam's export of clothing and textiles valued at $34-3.45 billion in 2018 is within reach. Its main export markets include the United States, members of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), the European Union, South Korea, China and ASEAN. Vietnam now has about 4,000 garment and textile companies, including 650 foreign-funded enterprises. Among them, 70% are engaged in garment weaving, only 6% in yarn production, 17% in fabric production and 4% in dyeing and printing plants.
